Initial Educator Licensure Programs 

Successful completion of these programs leads to teacher licensure.  

Programs for licensure are approved by the Tennessee Department of Education. Austin Peay State University has been approved to offer 25 initial teaching endorsements.

The programs offered are subject to change based on revision of standards by the Eriksson College of Education or the Tennessee Department of Education. If a licensure area does not appear below, it is not an approved program offered at 365bet.

Master of Arts in Teaching programs are designed to provide pedagogy knowledge and licensure opportunities to students with a bachelor's degree in their content area.

To become licensed to teach high school, you will major in the subject are in which you want to teach. You will minor in Professional Education.

We offer high school teaching licensure programs in the following content areas:

To become licensed to teach in Art, Music or Physical Education, you will major in the subject are in which you want to teach. You will minor in Professional Education.

Non-Licensure Education Bachelor's Degree

The Education Non-Licensure Concentration, while not providing teaching licensure, emphasizes education-related disciplines related to children, adolescents, and their families.

Undergraduate Certificates & Endorsements 

This online TESOL certificate program at undergraduate level is designed for candidates who are interested in possessing a high level of knowledge of contemporary theories and pedagogies in TESOL curriculum and instruction, and/or pursuing a position of teaching English as a second/foreign language to adult or child learners in the United States or abroad. Upon successful completion of the 12 credit hour interdisciplinary coursework, candidates will be awarded a TESOL certificate. All the credit hours are eligible to be transferred to TESOL Minor program, which requires an additional two more courses.

For those interested in teaching English Language Learners in K-12 environments, the Eriksson College of Education at Austin Peay State University now offers an academic minor allowing undergraduates to enroll in dually-listed courses to add an ELL endorsement to their existing licensure.
